Algonquin, First Nations Toisnot Skaru:re Contentnea Creek Homeland, Florida Seminole, and Johns Island Creole Geechee with connections to Treme Creole Culture from The Quarters in New Orleans. A Southeastern Woodlands Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, creator of natural colors from plants, flowers, nuts & insects, machine & hand stitching, hand embroidery, Pow Wow dancer, working traveler, writer, bundle binder, storyteller, multi-generational cloth dyer working as a teaching artist and small business consultant.
Academically trained fine arts artist with a passion for creating color, and a love for mark making, currently dancing my way to health in New Orleans. My art practice is about exploring sacred places on the coast of the Carolinas, blood memory, and indigenous ways of knowing transferred through stories while creating textiles.
