June Natural Dye Challenge Changes Into A Poetry Writing Challenge

As a teaching artist, writer, and small business consultant, I am always looking for ways to transform knowledge into something useful, meaningful, and sustainable. Recently, I participated in the four-part Write, Publish, Profit webinar series sponsored by the Halifax Community College Small Business Center. The training was presented by Martin Brossman, Richard Grassi, and Dr. Justin Rose in four 1.5-hour sessions designed to guide participants from a book idea to a published product that can support a business, consulting practice, or creative career. Richard Grassi joined the sessions live from Japan, adding an international perspective on publishing, entrepreneurship, and digital collaboration. (North Carolina Small Business Center)

The series was much more than a traditional writing class. It combined book development, self-publishing strategies, artificial intelligence tools, marketing, and business planning into a practical roadmap for entrepreneurs. Rather than focusing solely on writing techniques, the presenters emphasized how a book can become a marketing asset, a teaching tool, a speaking credential, or a source of income. Participants were encouraged to think beyond simply publishing a manuscript and instead consider how a book fits within a larger business ecosystem. (North Carolina Small Business Center)

Martin Brossman is widely known within North Carolina’s Small Business Center Network for his work in digital marketing, social media, artificial intelligence, and small-business training. Throughout the sessions, he demonstrated practical methods for using AI tools to accelerate the writing process while maintaining an authentic voice and expertise. Richard Grassi, a publisher and author who has helped numerous writers bring their books to market, focused on publishing workflows, editorial processes, book positioning, and the realities of self-publishing. Together, they created a balance between technology, creativity, and publishing experience. (Facebook)
